This old shop is a favorite among locals and has remained unchanged since its inception. The Taishi Monaka and Shura-no-Sato are highly recommended. The Taishi Monaka, a bite-sized sweet wafer cake filled with bean jam, can be enjoyed by men and women of all ages. Shura-no-Sato, a steamed yeast bun (baked sweet), containing an entire chestnut wrapped in sweet white bean paste, received a Prime Minister’s Award. Kogetsudo is known for its tea cakes and Taishi-cho (Town) souvenirs.
